Angeliki Kavga is Associate Professor in the Department of Agricultural Science, of University of Patras (UPatras), on «Greenhouse Construction and Operation» field. She has ΜSc in Environmental Studies from University of Patras (Dept. of Biology) and PhD in Agricultural Engineering from University of Patras (Dept. of Mechanical Engineering & Aeronautics) on “Energy Optimization of Greenhouse Using a Heating System with Infrared Radiation (IR).

She has presented remarkable research work in her scientific field with 40 published scientific papers in international journals, one book chapter and more than 45 entries in International and Greek Scientific Conferences. She is Project Manager (PM) in two research programs (Erasmus+ programme – Alliances for Education and Enterprises), Scientific Manager in 4 research programs and member of the research team in 2 research programs.


Research Interests


Greenhouse and Agricultural structures, Renewable Energy Sources (RES) in Agriculture, Energy and Environmental Physics, Smart Agriculture. More specifically:

  • Structural and thermal optimization of greenhouses to reduce energy consumption.
  • Application of Infrared Radiation (IR) in environmental heating of the greenhouse and agricultural buildings.
  • Integrated Photovoltaic Systems (GIPVs) on the roof of greenhouses, Agri-Photovoltaics (Agri-PVs).
  • Prediction models of micro-macro climate in greenhouses using Machine Learning Techniques (Neural Networks).
  • Automatic Control Systems, Information and Communications Technology (ICT), and Process Regulation in greenhouse systems.
  • Integrated robotic management systems for greenhouse units (cablebots – agbots), based on IoT technologies.
  • Development of smart greenhouses and modeling using Fuzzy Logic.
